Shrimp losses after rain: the right response
Heavy rain — stressed shrimp, opportunistic bacteria
- 1
Sudden pond change
pH, salinity, alkalinity and temperature drop fast; the pond stratifies and the bottom runs low on oxygen.
- 2
Stressed, weak shrimp
Shrimp eat less and their resistance drops after the change.
- 3
Opportunistic bacteria
Vibrio spp. multiply when shrimp are weak and the pond is rich in organic matter.
- 4
Shrimp losses
Shrimp stop eating and die at the bottom — find the real cause before medicating.
Find the cause before medicating
- Measure the pondpH, alkalinity, salinity, dissolved oxygen
- Check the shrimpHepatopancreas, gut, luminous signs
- Ask a technician or vetConfirm whether it is a bacterial infection
- Medicate as indicatedRight dose, full course
For shrimp, fish and nursery ponds
- Shrimp
Hepatopancreatic and luminous disease caused by Vibrio spp.
Broad-spectrum antibiotic; a special excipient binds toxins produced by Vibrio spp. 3 – 5 g/kg feed for 5 – 7 days.
- Fish
Intestinal hemorrhage caused by Aeromonas liquefaciens and Pseudomonas spp.
100 g per 260 – 360 kg of fish or 100 g per 15 – 20 kg of feed, for 5 – 10 days in a row.
- Nursery
Steadier fry, lower infection risk
1 kg/1,000 m³ of water, applied before stocking and every 2 weeks during the nursery phase.
Oxytetracycline stops bacteria multiplying
Oxytetracycline is a tetracycline, a broad-spectrum antibiotic active against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It diffuses through the bacterial cell membrane, binds the ribosome and blocks protein synthesis — the bacteria stop growing and multiplying (bacteriostatic), letting the animal’s own defences clear the infection.

- 02
Bacteriostatic
Blocks protein synthesis so bacteria stop growing and multiplying.

Dosage by species
As labelled.- Shrimp — bacterial infection3 – 5 g / kg of feedFeed for 5 – 7 days
- Fish — intestinal hemorrhage100 g / 15 – 20 kg of feedOr 100 g per 260 – 360 kg of fish; 5 – 10 days in a row

How to mix into feed
- 1Dissolve in clean waterUse just enough clean water.
- 2Mix into the feedCoat the pellets evenly.
- 3CoatSeal with a suitable binder so the drug stays on the feed.
- 4Dry for 20 minutesKeep out of direct sunlight, then feed.
Dosage may vary with actual pond conditions and the level of infection. Seal the bag right after use if not finished.

Right disease, right dose, full course
- 01Right diseaseUse only when a bacterial infection is confirmed, as directed by a vet or technician.
- 02Right dose, full courseShrimp 3 – 5 g/kg feed for the full 5 – 7 days; do not stop early or overdose.
- 03Stabilise the pondAfter rain, stabilise pH, alkalinity and oxygen; adjust feeding to appetite.
- 04Withdrawal before harvestStop use 4 weeks before harvest.

Previous pageDetailed article
TETRA MAX is a broad-spectrum antibiotic containing Oxytetracycline, specifically used in aquaculture, effectively treating bacterial diseases in shrimp and fish.
For shrimp:
- Broad-spectrum antibiotic, treats hepatopancreatic diseases and luminous vibriosis caused by Vibrio spp in shrimp. Combined with special excipients to help absorb toxins caused by Vibrio spp.
- Indicated for treatment in cases of bacterial infection: 3 - 5 g/kg feed, for 5 - 7 days.
- Dilute the product with sufficient clean water, mix thoroughly with feed, and coat with a suitable binder. Dry for 20 minutes before feeding shrimp, but avoid direct sunlight exposure.
- Use in nursery ponds/tanks: 1 kg/1,000 m³ of water broadcast before stocking and every 2 weeks during the nursery period to stabilize survival rate and limit disease infection. Dilute the product with water and broadcast directly into the pond or nursery tank.
For fish: 100 g of medicine for 260 - 360 kg of fish or 100 g of medicine/15 - 20 kg of feed. Treat continuously for 5 - 10 days.
Note:
- Dosage may vary depending on actual conditions and the severity of disease in the pond.
- Seal the packaging immediately after use if the product has not been fully consumed.
Withdrawal period: Discontinue use 4 weeks before harvest.
