Yucca saponin holds ammonia in the water
Yucca schidigera is a desert plant rich in saponins and glyco-compounds. Its extract binds ammonia in the water, lowering the free NH₃ that shrimp are exposed to. YUCCA GRO contains at least 10% saponin and is diluted and spread across the pond, so it acts quickly throughout the water body.

Research on Yucca extract and ammonia
- Yucca extract added to shrimp-farm effluent: total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) dropped clearly after 6 hours and further after 24 hours; the higher the extract concentration, the greater the reduction.
- Freshwater trial: efficacy varied with initial ammonia, extract concentration and time.
Laboratory trials at extract concentrations higher than the pond dose. In ponds, results also depend on pH, temperature and organic load.

Feed management is still the root fix
YUCCA GRO lowers toxic gas in the water. To keep ammonia from building up again, feed only what shrimp eat, siphon or use probiotics that break down bottom organics, and keep oxygen high.
