Application:
Nursery stage plays a crucial role in the process of shrimp farming.
Usually, nursery facilities are designed and operate under the constrain of high-biosecurity that allows growing PL at high densities. The size of PL can range from 2mg/PL to the size 3g per unit. The purpose of nursery phase is to ensure PL can grow healthy and uniformly which forms a strong foundation for further stable and significant growth in commercial farming phase.
However, there is always potential risk resulted from the high density such as the blossom of diseases caused bacteria. Well-known as one of the most dangerous bacteria, Vibrio spp. are required to be controlled strictly during nursery stage to ensure high yield season.
Probiotic solutions have been proved to be highly effective in prevention of Vibrio growing in shrimp farming, yet, not all of the probiotic products are well-performed in an extremely hard condition of nursery pond, where the level of waste, organic matters are always much higher than other farming stages.
